Miranda Richardson speaks about 'GoF'
Posted by GERI Source: The Times via The Leaky Cauldron
Miranda Richardson, Rita Skeeter, from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire recently discussed her role in the movie, commenting that she turned Skeeter into a garishly power-suited vamp, "Vivienne Westwood revisited,
with a slightly bubbly perm." She also spoke about working with director Mike Newell again and whether she will return for
Order of the Phoenix.
On returning for Order of the Phoenix:
Well, they like a bit of novelty in the films, so I'm not convinced they're gonna ask me back. I don't know.

Her Dance with a Stranger debut makes Miranda Richardson the hot new bundle from Brit
Trust the British to nurture an original new star while Hollywood hatcheries content themselves breeding brat
packers. Her name is Miranda Richardson. And her film debut in Dance With a Stranger has won the kind of critical huzzahs
that would leave even the mouth of a proud mum agape. "Spectacular," said the New York Times, "you almost worry how she'll
ever be able to equal--much less top it."
And what a role it is. Miranda, 27, plays the real-life Ruth Ellis, the last woman togo to the gallows in
Britain. Ellis, a platinum-blond, social-climbing nightclub hostess, was ... ain.

PS: INTERVIEW In the court of Queenie; Miranda Richardson's acting cv is as diverse as it is long,
yet if Blackadder's Elizabeth I wasn't so squeamish she might have been operating in a very different theatre, says Alison
Jones.(News)
An interview with Miranda Richardson should be approached with extreme caution.
Nervous as a young filly she bridles at the most innocuous enquiries, her answers a mixture of wit and waspishness.
Pauses in the questioning elicit a crisp "Next" and she feigns sleep when she thinks the conversation is becoming boring.
You sense her favourite role was that of the lisping Queenie in Blackadder who delighted in having the heads chopped off
fawning courtiers.
Noted for her porcelain beauty Miranda's familiar blonde hair has been dyed a startling marmalade colour.

Miranda Richardson Interview on Film Focus

On June 2nd, 2005 FilmFocus had a chat with Miranda Richardson, who portrays Rita Skeeter in Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire. She talked about her character and how she portrayed it, as well as acting alongside Daniel
Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.
Exclusive: Creating Rita - Miranda Richardson talks Harry Potter
Thursday,
June 02, 2005 We caught up with the wonderfully funny and brilliantly talented Miranda Richardson last night at the
premiere of The League Of Gentleman's Apocalypse, full report on that on its way, and just insisted on being filled-in on
all the Potter gossip.
Richardson plays Rita Skeeter, the annoying and intrusive journalist for The Daily Prophet,
in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, due out in November, "I enjoyed the books enormously," she told FilmFocus, "but Rita
reads rather differently than how I played her. She reads more, to me, like Dame Edna. And there's no way I'm going to do
Dame Edna. So it's a different twist on the character."
Potter fans will no-doubt be familiar with the shenanigans
of Ms. Skeeter, she hounds Harry for much of Goblet of Fire and prints vicious rumours about him at every opportunity.
Fortunately,
there were no Skeeter-esque journalists in our press line tonight...
Richardson told us that the biggest thrill of
the Harry Potter experience was working with her young co-stars, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. "They're
cool," she told us, "they're very grounded. They put me to shame, really, they're much more grown up than me. They're not
fazed by all the trappings of stardom and, I think, very keen to be seen as true professionals. They want to carry on in the
profession and do other big work."
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is released in the UK on November 18th, and
we can't get ourselves away from all the stars of the film turning out to let us know how awesome it's going to be. It's a
tough job, but someone's got to do it. Roll on November, we say.
